I’m Building Something I’ve Never Seen Before—And I Have No Idea If It Will Work

I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to share this publicly.

Part of me wanted to wait until everything was more “put together”—until I had the buildings, the funding, the structure… something to prove that this is real.

But the truth is, this is real. It’s just not finished yet.

And maybe that’s the part people don’t talk about enough.

I’m building something that doesn’t fully exist yet.

Something that sits somewhere between real estate, community support, and animal welfare. Something that, if I’m being honest, I’m still figuring out as I go.

The goal is simple—but not easy:

To create more pet-friendly housing, and eventually build a foster care system that gives animals a safe place to go when their owners are going through hard transitions.

Because right now, too many people are forced to make an impossible choice: A place to live… or the pet they love.

And that shouldn’t be a choice at all.

What most people don’t see is what it looks like at the beginning.

There’s no clear roadmap. No perfect timing. No moment where everything just clicks into place.

There’s just an idea—and the decision to take it seriously.

Right now, that looks like:

• Trying to figure out how to create pet-friendly rental opportunities

• Learning how to structure something that can actually grow

• Balancing real estate, life, and a mission that feels bigger than both

• Questioning if this is too big… and doing it anyway

Some days feel productive. Some days feel like I’m completely stuck.

But I keep coming back to the same thought:

If this doesn’t exist yet, then someone has to build it.

Why not me?

This isn’t a success story—at least not yet.

It’s the beginning of one.

I’m sharing this as I go. The wins, the setbacks, the things that work, and the things that don’t. Not because I have it all figured out, but because maybe someone else out there is at the very beginning of something too.

And maybe seeing it in real time makes it feel a little more possible.
